My second round living in New York City was in the summer of 2016 while working at Calvin Klein's headquarters as their digital public relations/special events intern. Due to my previous experience and interests, the company offered me the unique opportunity to work in the two departments over the course of my program since they closely collaborated on various projects.
With digital public relations, my job was to assist with all earned social media related to Calvin Klein. I worked with influencers to seed/gift product to be posted on their social media channels in contribution to company sponsorship and PR. I handled daily global tracking for digital media posted by influencers across social media platforms such as Instagram, Facebook and Twitter from all international regions. My team and I also organized digital coverage during our Fall 2016 campaign release in July which reached over 5 million unique fan engagements through earned/owned social media from 32 diverse campaign influencers ranging from Bella Hadid, Frank Ocean, Kate Moss, Grace Coddington and more. We also took part in special events such as VidCon (a weekend long Youtuber conference in Anaheim, CA) and the Bloomingdale's x Modern Cotton Bedding Launch to promote relations with celebrities and further incorporate the Calvin Klein brand throughout social media that could reached our target customer.
While I was managing my time with digital PR, I was also involved with the special events team on several projects that were happening during the summer and fall 2016 seasons. Along with the Bloomingdale's x Modern Cotton Bedding Launch, we also worked on our internal CK Social event, The Deep Euphoria NYFW Launch, World of Calvin at Macy's Initiative and the company's Holiday Party. My duties included researching/contacting venues and DJ's beforehand and managing catering and model staffing during events. Having been there to see some of these works come to fruition was a bigger experience than I could have asked to help create.
The experience I gained working side-by-side with both my teams at Calvin exposed me to the developing importance of digital technology and media within the apparel industry. In this new age, it's vital that companies grow and adapt their brands to the landscapes where their demographics live. Today, that's digital media and it's what I've found to be a passion of my own.
